After several years of writing The Hungry Dog Blog and making charcuterie at home - I realized how much time I’d spent putting together my collection of cookbooks, curing supplies, cooking gear and building my pantry. I’d literally gone to dozens of shops both brick and mortar as well as online to develop my collection. Yes, there’s some fun in the hunt but the reality is that it was not the most efficient way to get started.
So, to remedy this problem for future curing enthusiasts, I developed The Hungry Dog’s Store which is your one-stop-shop for all things related to charcuterie. Gone are the days where you must hunt for curing salt or sausage casings. No more poring through websites looking for butcher’s twine or a book that will tell you everything you need to know about how to make salumi. I’ve done the legwork for you.
Here at the store you’ll find a wide array of products ranging from curing supplies to pre-made charcuterie to cookbooks to items to stock your pantry with. We have a wide selection of charcuterie and salumi from Spain, Italy and the US from over a dozen producers. In addition, we carry all the supplies you’ll need to cure meat at home, pickle fruits and vegetables or even make your own cheese!
Also, I’ve selected several my favorite cookbooks and tomes from top food writers for your reading pleasure. They cover all manner of food curing and preserving subjects as well as some terrific books focused on specific types of regional cuisine around the world. Plus, I’ve added a small selection of essential food reading - these titles belong on your shelves.
I’ve also selected a variety of gear you need in your kitchen. My favorite manufacturers are included here from Cuisinart to KitchenAid to All Clad to Wusthof. These kitchen appliances and tools are must-have’s in any home cook’s toolkit and will save you hours of time. Plus, who doesn’t like shiny kitchen toys?
Finally, I’ve built a small starter pantry for you that includes key spices, salts and seasonings used specifically for charcuterie and preserving. These are all things I have in my kitchen and will save you a ton of time when curing at home.
Check out The Hungry Dog's Store where you can find everything you need for your home kitchen. When it comes to curing, preserving and cooking - this is the place to be!
